Look at this outfit and there’s a lot going on.
A cropped leather moto. A fitted Second Skin. Layers of tulle. Straps and hardware running through the skirt. Heavy boots underneath it all.
Take any one of those pieces away and you could make the outfit easier. More expected. Probably more wearable by somebody’s definition.
But it wouldn’t be this outfit.
What makes the look work is that nothing is trying to turn the woman wearing it into one thing. The tulle can be feminine without becoming sweet. The leather can have an edge without taking over. The fitted top gives all that volume some shape, and the boots bring the skirt back down to earth.
It isn’t about balancing feminine with edgy. We’ve heard that a thousand times.
It’s about wearing all of it because all of it can be you.
That's Where Personal Style Gets Interesting
We tend to talk about style as though everyone needs to eventually figure out what theirs is.
Classic. Minimal. Bohemian. Edgy. Feminine.
Why choose?
A woman can love a beautiful tulle skirt and a beat-up leather jacket. She can wear something dramatic one day and live in a simple fitted top the next. She can change the shoes, lose the jacket, pile on the jewelry or wear almost none.
None of that means she hasn't found her style.
It means her style actually belongs to her.
This outfit could be worn a dozen different ways, and that's the point. Someone else might take this skirt and add a blazer. Another woman might wear the jacket with a silk dress. Someone else might keep the entire look but swap the boots for heels.
The clothes don't decide who you are.
You do.
Don't Copy the Look. Take Something From It.
There is so much fashion coming at us now that it is easy to confuse inspiration with instructions.
See the look. Buy the look. Wear the look.
But that skips the best part.
The best part is what happens after you see something you love.
Maybe this outfit makes you finally pull out the tulle skirt you've been saving. Maybe it makes you look at your leather jacket differently. Maybe you would never wear any of it together, but the unexpected mix makes you wonder what youcould put together differently.
That's where a look becomes useful.
Not when you copy it.
When it gives you an idea.
Make It Look Like You
At M&C, we love clothes with personality. We always have.
But the clothes shouldn't have more personality than the woman wearing them.
So start with the jacket that caught your eye. Add the skirt you weren't sure you could wear. Put them together if you want to. Take something off if you don't. Ignore the styling rule that says they shouldn't work.
Then look in the mirror.
If you see the outfit first, keep going.
If you see yourself, you've got it.
